11 TOOLS REFLECTION

 

1) Tool 3 was my favorite. There are a lot of different resources I was unaware of before 11 tools. I plan to use the Wordle site to create word walls on my Activboard. 

2) I feel that while implementing technology as much as possible, the student will be more interested and involved with the different ways of learning.

TOOL 11

The first thing I want my students to understand is that when you are speaking with someone you can hear their tone. When you are talking with someone over the internet you can't always hear their tone. This is something to always keep in mind. The second thing I would want my students to understand about good digital citizenship is that it is impolite to use all caps. Most people consider caps a demanding or yelling tone. And lastly, I want my students to understand the safety requirements that need to be followed while online and/ or chatting. I plan to teach this throughout my class by modeling my expectations on my Activboard.

Tool # 10

One free app I found useful was the Dragon Dictation app. I think this app would be very beneficial for dyslexic students as well as ESL students. There are many different free language arts apps my students could benefit from in my class.

Tool # 9

I could use Jing to show my students how to do different things by taking screen shots of each step. If a student missed class the day before I could just print out the steps and they could use that to catch up. They could also use it the same way. They could show me how they found resources online.

One way I could implement Skype into my classroom is through tutorials. I have used Skyped before while abroad in college speaking with professors. It worked very well and was a handy tool to have.

The first video I found was a prefix/suffix video.

I could use this for examples of prefixes and suffixes and as an introduction (an attention getter)  to the lesson.

The second video I found was grammar rock.

I grew up watching School Rock and loved learning from it. This Grammar Rock could be used as an "attention getter" or just a review.

Tool 7

I used Imovie to create my video. I could use this program with my students by having them create a short book review.

Tool #6

I could use Wiki in my classroom for different ways of collaboration between students. If a student were to be absent it is one way of still being able to participate. Also, it is beneficial for colleagues by being able to communicate when in different locations.

Tool #5

I decided to use Diigo to search for sites on Washington on the Brazos.  Seventh grade usually takes a trip to George Ranch as well as Washington on the Brazos.

The tags I used to find this site were Texas History, Historical Sites and Landmarks.

I think the different google tools are a great way to edit papers without having to go through the hassle of attaching, saving, and resending. I find them both to be very useful.

3. Briefly explain how these samples would be used and how they might add to the learning process in your classroom.


These samples could be used in my 7th grade English Language Arts classroom in so many ways.  The Wordle is such a fun way of creating a word wall into your classroom  while incorporating technology. The Flickr speller is a creative way of posting things. It would definitely catch any student's attention.

Tool #2

Participating in a PLN benefits both the teacher and the student. For example, it gives the teacher a chance to get feedback from a student that would normally not raise their hand in class to share a comment. Also, it gives students the chance to share ideas and gain knowledge from their peers.

I felt that the netiquette part is so important. That was the first thing that stood out to me. It is so necessary and very important for students to know these day.
